About

B-Side Corp is an independent lab exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping the screen economy. Skunk Works model: small, separate, accountable only to the problem.

We build tools and document what's changing — focusing on the intersection of AI infrastructure, content discovery, and the operational realities of the media industry.

We don't take on client work. We're not a consultancy. We're a lab. If something we're building is relevant to what you're working on, we're open to a conversation.

We are a very small network of builders — people who have worked at the edge of media, technology, and creative production, and who prefer making things to talking about making things.

Started at Vodafone in 1994 during the transition from analogue to GSM — one of the earliest infrastructure shifts in European telecommunications, working directly with Nokia in Finland and Ericsson in Sweden on handset testing and early SMS infrastructure. Moved into digital media as the web emerged, advising the BBC, ITV, and Sky on early digital distribution at W1 Technology, then building mobile content platforms and SMS engagement systems during the dot-com era.

Thirty years later the infrastructure problems are different. The pattern is the same.

Since then: rights architecture, content acquisition, catalogue economics, and streaming strategy across the full transition from physical media to platform distribution. Structured agreements with major studios, labels, and independent producers across North America and Europe. Twenty-six consecutive years at MIPCOM. The work has run across the UK, continental Europe, and North America — the same content economy, seen from three different vantage points.

Most of that work was done inside large organisations. B-Side Corp is the first context where the structure is mine to control.

The lab exists because the tools the industry needs are not being built by the people who understand the problem. Most AI commentary in media is written from the outside. The work here is built from the inside.
